Year 5/6's Harry Potter Day

Throughout the term, Year 5/6's work in English revolved around a Harry Potter theme. In the first half-term we wrote portal stories set in this magical world, while in the second half we have created some brilliant non-chronological reports about fantastical creatures.

To support our work, we organised an amazing Harry Potter Day in November. We split into small groups and took part in four out of the eight activities on offer. These included:

  • broomstick making
  • learning to play quidditch
  • baking Hogwarts themed treats
  • cracking magical codes
  • planting bulbs in herbology
  • making wands and wand-boxes
  • creating bow truckles
  • investigating magical potions

At the end of the day we got together in the Hall to share some of what we had done with each other and with our families - a big thank-you to everyone who came in to hear about our adventures!

"Pupils enjoy the carefully selected books and other texts that are available across the school and in every classroom."
