"Leaders have put in place an ambitious curriculum for all pupils that is well suited to their needs."
At lunchtimes, all children have the choice between school dinners or bringing a packed lunch from home. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school meals. Many children in Year 3-6 are also eligible for free school meals - to find out more, click here.
All children in Key Stage 1 also get free milk every morning, and Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1 children receive fruit as a mid-morning snack every day.
As a Healthy School, all our lunches are carefully put together to make sure that we all get a good, balanced mix of food groups in our diet. The School lunch menu gives a choice of 4 options each day - a hot meal, a vegetarian option, a jacket potato or a school packed lunch.
For more information, head to the Herts Catering website.
Like most other Hertfordshire Primary Schools, admissions from Reception upwards are all handled by Herts County Council, and applications for school places must be made through their website :
All applications for Nursery places (for children starting in September 2022 - this should be the September after their 3rd birthday) must be made to schools directly. Applications for places in our nursery are now open. To apply, please complete the form below and return it to the school office:
All 3-4 year old children are eligible for up to 15 hours free childcare per week in term time – at Bedwell, this means that all Nursery children attend morning sessions (8.45 - 11.45am) free of charge.
Some 3-4 year olds are entitled to 30 hours funded childcare per week, which means that they can attend full days in Nursery, free of charge. To find out if your child is eligible for 30 hours free childcare, please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for further information. If your child qualifies, you will need to provide us with a 30-hour code and eligibility for this level of provision is reviewed termly.
For families not entitled to 30 hours provision, additional afternoons in Nursery can be booked and paid for. The cost for these is £15 per afternoon session.
School meals are available for children who stay for afternoon sessions - these cost £2.60 per meal for children in Nursery. Alternatively, parents can provide packed lunches for children who stay all day.
