Helping Haven

One of School Council’s first jobs was to work out who we should raise money for this year. They narrowed it down to a shortlist, and 3 members of Year 5/6 then recorded video messages to explain what each charity did and why they were worthy of our support. Using these videso to help us, we then held votes in class to decide who we should focus on - and the outcome of all of that was that we selected Stevenage Haven, who provide support and shelter for homeless people in our local area. You can find out more about their work at  www.havenfirst.org.uk/

Our first fundraising activity was a non-uniform day, which raised an amazing £200 for this great charity, and just before Christmas two members of School Council joined Mrs Draper in visiting Haven to hand over our cheque.

"Pastoral care for pupils and their families is strong. Pupils feel well cared for because leaders and staff go out of their way to help and support them."
