"Pupils have increased access to a range of sporting activities and events... This is valued by pupils, supports their self-esteem and enables them to learn how to keep themselves fit and healthy."

Sport, fitness and academic success all go hand in hand, so at Bedwell we take our PE really seriously. Every class has at least 2 hours of timetabled PE every week, taught by a mixture of class teachers and our specialist PE Teacher, Mr Butler. We aim to introduce our children to as many sports and actitives as possible, so that they can find the one that suits them, and so that everyone can experience success - and consequently our provision includes everything from fencing to trampolining and street dance to swimming.

As a result of all this, we have built-up a fantastic reputation for sport within the town and, indeed, at County level. In the last four years we have won the Stevenage Netball, Cricket, Basketball, Hockey, Rugby, Indoor Athletics, Lacrosse and Hi-5 Netball tournaments, and we have represented Stevenage at County Finals in Girls Football and Table Tennis already this year. We were also awarded the nationally recognised Gold School Games Mark in 2017 and 2018, and won the School Games Values award at the 2018 Stevenage Sporting Futures awards

Overall, the school is very well equipped for PE, with 2 large halls, extensive fields, outdoor basketball and netball courts and a huge supply of equipment. We ask all children to buy their own School PE kit, which consists of a t-shirt in their House colour and a pair of green shorts - all available from the School Office.
