Football Finals
x

"Pupils enjoy participating in sport very much, with more than eight out of 10 attending an out-of-school sports club provided by the school."

We have been fortunate enough to host many of this year's Stevenage Schools Football events and tournaments, and this continued as the season drew to a close. On June 6th we organised and hosted this year's Junior Tournament (for Year 3/4 teams), with over 100 children taking part, following hot on the heels of this year's Stevenage Cup Finals and end-of-season presentations, which saw over 300 people packing into our hall on May 26th.

    Junior Tournament
Our Year 3/4 football team enjoyed a brilliant afternoon of action at this year's Junior Tournament. Twelve teams (and over 100 children) took part in the event, and we were lucky enough to get the chance to enter two teams, giving many of us the chance to represent the School and play in a proper, competitive match for the first time. Over the course of the afternoon, both teams competed in 5 matches, with our 'A' side performing brilliantly against some incredibly talented opposition and only missing out on a place in the semi-finals on goal differenece. Our 'B' side faced a tougher afternoon, and were on the end of some heavy losses early on, but they clearly developed in skill and understanding over the course of the event, and all 18 children involved were an absolute credit to our school.

    Finals Day
With our Boys team having been knocked-out in the semi-finals of this year's Stevenage Schools FA Cup, we were left to watch-on, help-out and start scouting for next season when we hosted the Cup Finals on May 26th. After watching St Vincents narrowly beat Knebworth in a brilliant Boys Final and Almond Hill overcome St Vincent Girls in an end-to-end Girls Final, we headed inside for this year's end-of-season awards. The Hall was absolutely rammed, with well over 300 children, teachers and parents from across town in attendance, making it a really special event for those collecting medals, trophies and certificates. Fortunately, this included 4 of our own, with Bradley Evans and Honey Urwin rewarded with Player of the Season awards for their tireless efforts this year, and Harvey Bonney and Millie Widdows collecting Most Improved Player awards.
